Expertise

From Concept to Commercial Reality
Every product is individually crafted by our highly skilled workforce, everyone a craftsman in his own right. The process incorporates methods and equipment as diverse as traditional dovetail and mortice and tenon joints through to precision engineered assembly systems where the accuracy of our CNC machining centres can be utilised to its full potential.

All domestic furniture products are made from the finest grade of timber, which undergoes rigorous selection for colour, grain pattern and moisture level together with quality checks at every stage of the production process. Our emphasis is on incorporating a level of solid timber into every product that we make. However, to help contain costs and produce a value product some veneered materials are used in unseen or secondary areas of our furniture.

All contract furniture products are made from solid timber, veneers, laminates and melamine's offering the functionality and durability this market demands.

Clients can be confident that their concept or design becomes the living piece of furniture they envisaged. Through a rigorous prototyping process manufacturing specifications are resolved and finalised, allowing a smooth transition into production.

From a specification briefing we work with our clients using our in house CAD design facility to produce technical drawings and 3D visuals leading to making sample pieces and fully finished prototypes to assist the selection process and final approval prior to main production.

To complete the supply process we work with our clients to organise delivery via our own vehicles or nominated carriers or liaise to co-ordinate ex works collection.

"Responsible Manufacturers"

At Monk Furniture we recognise that we are the custodians of the environment for tomorrows generations and adopt an ethical policy to reflect this.

We purchase only North American & European Hardwoods supplied from sustainable sources with full re-plantation programmes. Our clients can be assured that we will not use endangered species or environmentally disruptive timbers in any products manufactured by Monk Furniture, and will not support the use of such components or materials in any out-sourced products we may incorporate into our ranges from time to time.

Our environmental responsibility is also reflected in our waste management. We recycle all the combustible waste generated through our manufacturing by re-processing it into our factory heating systems. This not only restricts the amounts sent for disposal at landfill sites but also reduces our reliance on conventional heating sources such as gas and electricity.

Our finishing process reflects our awareness for the environment too. We work with suppliers of our finishing materials to develop finishes that comply with and often exceed the requirements of the Environmental Protection Act. At the same time we strive to develop improvements in the performance of the finish to give such benefits as high build, high resilience surfaces. This follows our declared policy of continuous improvement in all aspects of the company including methods, quality, product range and service for all of our clients.
